ADP Access 2007 Navigation Option "Add" buttons Greyed Out

Hello,

I recently upgraded to Access 2007 from Access 2003. I am working with
Access Data Projects in order to connect to a SQL Server database.

I like certain things like the Search Bar but I really miss my groups. I've
been unable to recreate them because in the Navigation Options window both
the Add Item and Add Group buttons are greyed out.

Does anyone know how to make these options available?

Have you found the solution for this yet? I have the same issue and all of
Microsofts documentation that I have found thus far indicates these should be
modifiable in ADPs.

What solution are you looking for?

The Search Bar set up is in the Navigation Options. Right Click on the top of
the Navigation Bar - select Navigation Options - there two listboxes, left -
Categories right - Groups for.

At the botton of Nav Options, check the "Show Search Bar".

In the Categories listbox below, click the "Add Item" button of whatever you
want to add.

In the Group for listbox below, click the "Add Group" button of whatever you
want to add.

In the Navigation Bar, click the down arrow or triangle like button to view
the added Items or Groups you have created.

I think we both have the problem that "Add Item" and "Add Group" buttons are
greyed out so we can't use them...

Right, I think I miss something. You said ADP, I don't think you can add
item/group in ADP if I'm right as I recall. I haven't test this in A2007.

I think I found the so called bug. but not a bug...... really!

You'll need to right click the Navigation Pain bar- select Category - select
Table and Related Views - click Ok when a message appear and wait until it
completes.

Now, right click on the Navigation Pane bar again, select Navigation Options.
Now you should see the left listbox "Categories" filled with one category.
Click add under categories to add one sample name it "test" and now on the
right listbox "Groups for "test" appears and the button at the botton "Add
Group" is enabled.

The so called bug only confuse users if there are nothing in the listboxes
and disabling the buttons is really uncalled for. Something MS Access Team
need to fix.

On the first step, the only choice I seem to have under Category is Object
Type

Sorry about that, forgot to mention it was a mdb/accdb format.

It works in older version ADP of Access but not in 2007 ADP. It seems that
there's no way to add new Groups in the Nav Pain. Maybe MS Access team forgot
about this.

Thanks for your help anyway!

It seems like every time I upgrade I am unable to do something I could do
before. Once in a while I get lucky and find the thing I need is still
possible, only hard to find and much more difficult. : )
