‘The Open Report Action Was Cancelled’

I have just discovered that I cannot open via design view or run / create any
2003 access reports on my pc; a dialogue box appears stating ‘The Open Report
Action Was Cancelled’ All other functions of the program appear to operate
correctly.

I have checked my manual for a solution but unfortunately this situation is
not covered in the trouble shooting section. I cannot remember changing any
setting within access however, I have just upgraded from XP to Vista Home Pro

Sounds like you have not yet installed a printer, or there is a problem with
the driver for the default printer.

Access uses the metrics from the printer driver to calculate the layout for
reports. If there is no printer, or if the printer driver contains bad
information, Access is not able to calculate how the report should work -
not even in design view.

Install a printer, or switch to a different printer driver.

Thanks Allen, there is a problem with my print driver; HP have not produced a
Vista version yet and I'm still using an XP version for my HP LaserJet 1022.

HP forecast July 2007 before it's available !!

Ah, that makes sense.

HP is certainly slack with getting their Vista drivers out. Our A3 color
printer has no Vista driver, and last time I checked there were no plans to
release one. Boat anchor. I doubt we will be buying their printers again.

I LOVE YOU GUYS! I would have never thought a printer driver would stop the
function of making/viewing a report. I actually reformatted my PC thinking
it was an issue somewhere in the settings/registry of Office. I went ahead
and set the "Microsoft Office Image Writer" printer as default and BAM, the
reports started working again. I figured it couldn't have been an Office
issue this time around since all I have installed is Windows Vista, Office
2003, McAfee and my printer.
