0 is not a valid character in product key

I am attempting to install Office 2007 small business and getting the message
I have placed in the subject line.
I have just purchased a new laptop and it has Works 9.0, which should allow
me (per Best Buy and documentation on the box) install this upgrade version
of Office Small Business.
However, the second character in the product key is a 0 (Zero) and when I
type it in I get the error and am then dead in the water.
I did a search on this error message and see that others have gotten this
error, but I haven't seen a solution. Anyone have a solution?
TIA
Jay

Are you absolutely sure it's not an "oh"? Upper case of "o"? I used to make
that switch on the old keypunches (before numerical keypads).

You might try it even if you think I'm bonkers (could be).

I wish it was so simple, but believe me, I tried an O also when the 0 failed.
This is not the problem.
Any others out there?

I've just been through this with an Office Ultimate install. My product key
and associated bar code was on the back of the Drop out compartment that
holds the DVD's and pamphlets. I had been trying to use the codes I found on
the stick on label on the outside of the case. It never occurred to look at
the back side of the internal case - I sort of found it by accident.
Ah well, I'm not real bright - lol.

Don't know if this is of any help but hope so

K2hsharpe, Bless you!!!
I ripped apart the case and found the real product key taped to the inside
of the case. You have made my day. Thank you for taking the time to post
that reply.

You are a genious! I just spent an hour fighting with the number on my label
until I found YOUR solution. Thanks, S.

nope, not genius, just someone else who spent an hour trying various
combinations of barcode numbers before I stumbled on the real thing hidden
inside the package
(laughing))))

nope, not genius, just another poor bugger who spent an hour trying to
manipulate a barcode into fitting before I accidently stumbled on the real
thing hidden on a back surface inside the case
