07 Office (Trial) stops working before expiration

2007 Home and Student Trial was working fine - but after accessing about 15+
files from my external thumb drive - Word suddenly started functioning in
"compatability mode" ...i.e. no saving, printing, etc. only viewing. I
already spent over an hour online trying to troubleshoot - performed all
updates, diagnoses, etc.

My expiration date is June 9, 2009.

Seems it "assumed" I reached an expiration time, based on extensive or
repetitive use??

"Compatibility mode" just means you're opening a file that is
saved in Office 97-2003 format. It has nothing to do with the
expiration date of the free trial software. But the free trial
software is usually good for some number of days or some number
of uses, whichever comes first, and most people run out of uses
before they run out of days.
