If we send email files as attachments labeled aaa.07.xls or aaa.07.doc
to our mail server, I can read them in a browser on an XP / Outlook
2003 system fine. Fire up outlook and pop the messages, however, and
they show very small file sizes. open the .xls, and there is an empty
spreadsheet with the sheet tab name = the file name. Open the doc,
and word shows an empty file.
This is true on at least 4 out of 40 desktops we have examined so
far. We cannot find a common denominator yet.
Changing the names to end in things like...
..7.xls, .17.xls, .07ab.xls, .06.xls etc. causes them to open
correctly.
What in the world is going on???
anti-virus clean; has been going on for several months.
