0x80040126 connection to the server is offline

Just set up outlook this morning with my hotmail account. When I go to send
and receive it gives me an error saying that the server is offline.

One thing you can do is run "detect and repair" from the Outlook help menu.
Is your hotmail account a free one or paid? Only paid ones can be accessed
via Outlook. Also make sure you have the account set up correctly, Hotmail
Plus accounts work with HTTP protocol rather than the Outlook connector.
