1/2 page blank when preview & print

When I "preview" a Word doc, only a portion of the page
is on the preview screen. It is like 1/2 of the page is
blank, however, when I "close" the "preview" screen, the
whole document shows on my working screen. If I print
the doc, only a portion of the document prints, like a
portion has been erased.

If I close out of Word completely and then get back in
and re-open the same doc, it is fine. I print it and
it's fine. Then if I open another document, the same
thing happens again. I then have to "close" Word, then
re-open it and then re-open that document and it's now
fine. This happens on numerous, unrelated documents that
I have.
