Hi,

1. A word crash:
A second before I pressed 'save' the big (3x3"+-) window popped up
saying "Word has unexpectedly quit.... Send problem to apple?" I
said no. When Word opened again...all gone. Devastating.

I had gone a page without saving, I admit.

I haven't gotten this window for a long time. What might I have done
to cause this to happen?

2. Question about newsgroups:
Is this the same newsgroup I used to access from Entourage, the
newsgroup I picked out of that long microsoft list of newsgroups?
"Mail", which I've been using lately, doesn't have the discussion
groups' folder in the sidebar that accesses the list of Microsoft
newsgroups. Can 'Mail' access that list?

3. Question about false email address
With the Entourage-accessed newsgroups, I used a false, non-answerable
email address in order to avoid the spam harvesters who get real
addresses from newsgroup sites. Is that necessary for this Google
site? I think not because of what I was asked when I registered. They
couldn't have sent me a confirmation notice.

Thanks,

Rafael

Hello Rafael,

Welcome back!

See http://word.mvps.org/Mac/AccessNewsgroups.html for some good tips.

Using Entourage or a newsreader application also means you don't have to
wait for hours for a post to appear; that's useful when there is a lot of
toing-and-froing with discussions.

Just remember that if you ask 3 questions in one post, things can get quite
complicated as various people answer various aspects. ;-)

And some (myself and others) can't wrap our brain around more than two
answers at a time anyway. ;-)

Hi Phillip:

Precisely :) I tend to answer the "top" question, and forget about the
others.

In fact, I have a bad habit of only reading the first screenful. If the
question's not in there, I reckon it can't be very important :)

Cheers
