1 assignment in pp 2 in pwa?

O

owp^3

I am an EPM Project Server Administrator we are using Project Pro 2003 SP2
and Project Server with the latest patches up until the one that was recently
recalled.

I have a user who has 2 assignments on her timesheet for the same task in
the same plan. The plan however only reflects one assignment for her for the
task.

The 2 assignments on her timesheet have different owners. If she submits
time on both assignments and both owners accept the updates the last
overwrites the first.

I need to figure out how best to resolve and eliminate the duplicate
timesheet entry.

I have been logging into the assignment owners PWA accounts. I am able to
accept updates and save them to the plan but then I receive notification of
spooler error 0x80004005. I don't want to focus on this error unless it is
truly related to the problem above. Here is the log entry for the spooler
error...

Event Type: Error

</Error>

The Provider returned the following error:

ANYWAY...
The bottom line is i need to get rid of one of these timesheet entries and
want to know the best way to do so. Also, if anyone has an idea of how it
happened that would be valuable information also.

Thanks,

Is your question:

If there is only "one task" in "one project" how can there be "two
assignments"
for the "same one task" in the "same one project" appear "twice" in PWA?

Well, because you have 2 project managers who manages the same one project
and something went wrong, causing the assignment to get stuck in the PWA
during "republish assignments". One assignemt goT orphaned due to a glitch,
synchronization error, cosmic ray, and/or lost pointers.

Since you have 2 PMs managing the same one project, of course the last
update will
overwrite the first update because they are the same task. This also tells
you that
you may have a project corruption or worse, a resource pool corruption.

Let's be optimistic. Let's say your project is corrupted. I assume this
only happens
in one project and not multiple projects. If it's multiple projects, I'm
afraid your
resource pool is shot.

Easiest way to correct this is to save the project as a file. Delete the
file on the
server. Import the file back onto the server using a different file name.

That's it.

NOTE:

If MS Project Server is at SP1, every single MS Project 2003 Professional
user must
must must must must be at SP1. You can also have MS Project 2003
Professional
users at SP2; HOWEVER, if even one user is at SP2 and shares projects with
another with SP1, you will get a data mismatch and things will happen
(like your problem)...

IF MS ProjectServer is at SP2, shut it down now and upgrade to SP2a
immediately!
And, make absolutely sure every single MS Project user is at SP2!
