1 GB unknown file

Does anybody now what this file is and how I can delete
the file and turn off the spplication that is creating the
file or stop it from doing it. There are two of these file
one is 1 GB the other is 815 MB. the file name is
winnt/profiles/AllUsers/Application Data/Microsoft/Office
Search Services/indexing
services/Project/System/System.Ntfynnn.gthr (nnnn is a
number)

They are created by the Indexing Service which is a component of Office XP.
