1 unread email message on logon screen

in outlook 2003 when I log on there is an unread e-mail message when in fact
all messages have been opened. I am running xp pro. I have emptied junk
folder and dealted folder. also have searched data base to find out how to
turn off message alert on logon screen with no luck.
