1025 error sending attachments in IMAP

A few weeks ago IMAP users started reporting an error 1025 when sending
messages with attachments. The message is sent but cannot be stored in the
Sent Items folder on the server and is instead stored locally with the
message Error 1025 Unable to add message to imap mailbox. I can reproduce the
problem on any account and on any of our Exchange servers, even a new empty
acct. Happens with both Entourage for X and Entourage 2004 with different
versions of OS X from 10.2 to 10.3.5. I have tried changing the encoding
methods and have compression set to none. We currently are running Exchange
Server 2000 and have not made any changes. This is only happening with
Entourage and not with Apple Mail. I need some hints on what I should try
next.

Thanks Karen

Hi Karen,
Try this:
1. go to tools and account
2. go to advance tab
3. uncheck "store sent messages in this imap folder

Thanks,
Anil

I know that works to get rid of the error, but my users want to store their
Sent Items on the server. All of their Sent Items I might add. :) It was
working until a couple of weeks ago. I just can't figure out why it stopped.
I was hoping for a clue to what this error really means is going on with the
Exchange Servers and Entourage.

ok. Can we try rebuilding database. Typical and then advanced(if typical
does not resolve that).
If there's anything wrong on server side, that should be logged in event
viewer and that should be for all users, that we can test by creating a
different identity(same account)
Let me know your views on this.
Thanks,
Anil

In another academic environment we are seeing almost the identical problem.
Error 1025. Users cannot send messages with attachments as the message
cannot save to the sent mail folder on the IMAP server.

Also, users cannot drag locally stored messages to the server.
