10k tasks

Hello,

Can Project server /project pro can EASILY handle a project consisting of
approximately 10k tasks?
If yes, are they some recommendations, constraints to look at?

The biggest problem is going to be on the desktop. Project loads the whole
file into memory to work with, so make sure you have a good amount of RAM on
the machines you are going to use.

It is also a good idea to be careful about the number of custom fields you
use. Keep them to the ones you really need.

Hi Alfatcop,

additionally to Jacks response, you will find the 10k tasks in one project
schedule will be difficult to manage from a PM point of view. Have you
considered a Master project with sub projects that together hold all tasks?
This is probably more a question of who will manage the tasks, is it one
person or more people.

From a performance point of view, you will see an impact. What you may want
to do is switch off the autocalc option. That will speed up the schedule,
but in order to see the final result you need to make sure that you trigger
the calc manually.
