12/14 pt

Hi,
I changed the paragraph style Normal to have exact 2 pt
space beteween lines (12/14 pt). When applied, I inserted
a picture (jpg or png) the whole picture disappeared and
only the last part of picture was visible. Same thing
happens no matter what exact space I put. When I changed
back to single line the picture reappeared.

Since we want in our templates to have 12/14 pt, it is
urgent for us to solve this problem.

You need to create a Picture style that has Single spacing. Pictures are
incompatible with exact line spacing.

Hi Suzanne,
Are you telling me that this can't be solved for the
users? That we cannot use exact line spacing in
connection with pictures?

You can apply exact line spacing to paragraphs that do not contain a
picture (that's probably most of the document), and apply single line
spacing to paragraphs that do contain a picture.

Precisely. I would hope that you are using styles for the entire document.
Just create a Picture style that has single line spacing and use that for
your graphic elements. Alternatively, you can wrap text around the pictures
(change the wrapping style of the pictures from In Line With Text to some
other style).

How do I create a Picture style?
How does it work? I want a picture, when inserted, to
automatically be single line spacing. Does it work like
that?

See http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styles/ModifyAStyle.html for starters.
If you don't want to modify a built-in style, select New in the Style
dialog, give your style a name (such as Picture), and then define it as
having Single spacing (you might also want to make it centered). When you
want to insert a picture, press Enter to insert a new paragraph, apply the
Picture style (see http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styles/ApplyAStyle.html),
and then insert the picture.

Since you seem to be somewhat unaware of styles, you might want to start
with http://www.microsoft.com/office/using/column14.asp

No, there is no special style for inserted pictures. They are inserted in a
paragraph of whatever style happens to be in effect at the time. If this
happens to be one with Exact line spacing, then only that much of the
picture will be displayed.
