13/ 2/3 page layout

I know how to insert columns and how to re-size them.
I need to format the page so that I can write notes immediately beside the
paragraphs in the left column. I want to use a left hand column that is 2/3
page width - 1/3 for the right hand right hand side of the same page. This
is easy to do in principle.

HOWEVER ... The text runs from the bottom of the wider 2/3 page width column
to the top of the 1/3 page width column ON THE SAME PAGE. I can not simply
type in the smaller right hand column so that my comments are on the same
page and at the same height on the page as the paragraph to which I am
referring in hte left hand column.

Can you please help?

Thank you

This sort of layout (for parallel columns) requires a (borderless) table.
Just be sure to start a new row every chance you get (at least once a page)
to keep Word happy.
