1900 date system as a preference in new files II

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Hi,

As seen in the previous discussion (with the same title) it is possible to change the default date system preference (either 01/01/1900 like Windows does or 02/01/1904 like Mac does).
I tried, as suggested by McGlimpsey in the previous discussion, to locate the new workbook template (with Windows date preference) in a different folder for the reasons he explicated. I also tried to put it in the excel startup folder.

Initially none of these solutions worked, but after going to excel/preferences/general and writing the path where the templates were, it partially worked.
I mean, I selected the path in both the "when starting, open all the files in" box and the "preferred files location" box (I'm guessing the translation because my application language is Spanish) in preferences/general. Ok, now it PARTIALLY worked.
I say "partially" because when I start my first excel file it was as I expected to be (changed system date and a few things more) but when I open another excel file it is with the old template format.
By the way, I wasn't able to find WHERE the default template is (!!!). It is not in the Microsoft Office 2008/Office/Startup/Excel. I tried also to see hidden files but nothing to do....
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

Make sure you're saving the file you created;

1- With the name Workbook,
2- As an Excel Template (.xslt) file type, &
3- With NO file name extension [i.e., Workbook, not Workbook.xslt]

Hi,

I have saved with name Libro (my excel is in Spanish), as an excel template (.xlst), and with no name extension but it doesn't work. Or better it partially does. The firs file it opens is as expected but if I press new in the tool bar the next one is not like I would expect (1904 date system for example).
I have just tried to call it Workbook and it does just the same thing (the first is good but not the next).
I created a folder in: me(administrador)/Librería(Library)/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/XLSINICIO(the folder I created and where the template is.
Also, as told in my previous post, I had to go to excel/preferences/general and writing the path where the templates were (by marking the box "when starting open all the files inside this folder"), because if I don't, it does not work at all.
Any idea?
