1900 vs 1904 date functions

A workbook was created on Mac but is now used on a PC. I had the date
conversion fixed and now suddenly its gone crazy. All the spread sheets read
incorrect dates, The only way I was able to fix part of the problem was
nder tools, options, calculations and it now shows 1904. However, one page
in the workbook is still showing 5 digit date "39744". When I use the 1492 #
and try to subtract its still off by 4 years and 1 day, if I add, its off by
8 years, 1 mo. 1 day. Please help. I can't do any updates till this is
resolved. I am currently using Office 2003.

Hi,

I think there are two issues here. First 39744 this is a date which is not
formatted as a date, just change the format to whatever date format you like.

Second you should switch to the date format you want in all your
worksheets/workbooks or else this is a real pain.

Since the difference is 1492 days you can subtract or add this amount to
correct this problem. If all of your dates are in one location this is easy,
enter 1492 in a cell and copy the cell, highlight all the dates and choose
Edit, Paste Special, Add (or Subtract).
You may have to reformat the numbers as dates.

If this helps, please click the Yes button.
