-192 is toast!/new behavior

Since applying update 10.1.6 for Office v.X on Dec. 17, 2004, my wife and I
still have not experienced error -192. Bravo to whomever is responsible for
the fix!!!

I have noticed only one new behavior with 10.1.6 that is a nuisance...

When I get a message in the Inbox that I want to file in a folder that does
_not_ exist yet, then create the folder, the message seems to have
disappeared from the Inbox.

Eventually (within an hour or two) the message reappears and I can file it
in the new folder. I have not figured out yet what action I can take to
force it to 'reappear' in the Inbox. So far, all messages have eventually
'reappeared', so the problem is not critical, yet.

Has anyone else noticed this? If so, any ideas? Thanks!

By "file", do you mean "using the 'Move' button"? If you click the Move
button and release, to get the big Move Message window, click New Folder,
name it in the new window that comes up, click Create, click Move, the
message is moved to the new folder immediately.

If you mean you make a new folder "manually" via New/Folder, then go back to
the Inbox, the message should still be there. Are you referring to the local
Inbox "On My Computer", or to an IMAP inbox? Do you have any settings to
view Unread Only? (That would explain why the message disappeared - it's now
read.)

No. I don't have 10.1.6 any more. There's certainly no such thing happening
in 2004, so upgrade to 2004 if you find this persists in 10.1.6. In 2004,
the message will even still be selected. (I can't recall if this was true in
10.1.x)

You're really sure this is in the local Inbox? Use the Move button and see
what happens.

The method I use to move a message to a folder is to drag it to the folder.
I have never used the Move button until a few minutes ago (thanks for your
suggestion). It seems like six of one, half dozen of another - not a better
method, just different.

Yes, I make a folder manually (File->New->Subfolder). The message in my
Inbox that I want to file/move disappears as the new Subfolder is created.
And yes, I _do_ expect the message will be in the Inbox when I return to the
Inbox to drag it to the new subfolder. I am not losing my mind - this is
really happening and that is why I am reporting it here. It is not an IMAP
Inbox; it is in the Inbox within 'On My Computer'.

BTW, I have my personal email folder/subfolder hierarchy within that Inbox.

The problem does not happen every time I create a new subfolder for an Inbox
message. So far, I have not found a pattern for those that work and those
that do not.

I just checked and confirmed there is no preference set to view Unread only.

I have used x.X since Jan. 2002 and have never had this problem until after
applying the update to 10.1.6. on Dec. 17, 2004.

Problem is both my wife and I are unemployed and do not have discretional
cash right now for an upgrade to 2004. Also, this feedback is relevant to MS
developers who will eventually release 10.1.7.

Yes, it really is the local Inbox. I will experiment with the Move button
and see if that method works 100% of the time, then report my experiences
here in a few weeks. Thanks!
