1st Form Loaded Flickers Upon Opening

I am using Access 2000.

Each time my database is 1st open, the database opens to my Main Form
(Switchboard). On the "On Open" event procedure for this form, I use
the DoCmd.Maximize function. When the form 1st loads it displays
maximized and it flickers for about 3 seconds then stops. Does anyone
know what might be causing this and how I might prevent it. Thanks in

Some WAGs:

1. Your video card/computer just isn't all that powerful. Try using a
smaller resolution or less colors.

2. In a similar vein, do you have a fancy graphic on your Switchboard form?
I'm not talking about those in the DBWIZ folder but something else like a
company logo. It might just be too much.

3. While the Switchboard form is trying to maximize, it is also reading
information from the Switchboard Items table to populate the buttons. Does it
flicker if you don't mazimize the Switchboard?

4. Is your database split? I've seen a few problems with the Switchboard
Items table is in the backend.
