G'day
Publisher 2000 on win98 PC
I am trying to assist a Publisher user via email, so I'm trying to
recreate the problem(s) and find a solution I can pass along.
As best as I can tell, when first starting their webpage in
publisher, a 1 row x 1 col table (possibly outline?) was drawn
encompassing their entire webpage. All objects were then placed in
the 'table'. When the finished work is published as a webpage, one
large gif is generated of the entire webpage with links intact. I
was able to ascertain this by looking at their webpage source and
the info provided by:
<http://www.microsoft.com/office/previous/xp/columns/column16.asp#graphic>
....at the very bottom.....
"Hint If you want to make the entire page of objects and text as a
.gif image draw a 1 × 1 table that covers the entire page. Any
objects, such as text frames, pictures, or autoshapes, in this table
will be converted to a single graphic, making the entire page as one
object."
I have been able to partially recreate the problem by encompassing
all the test objects in a 1 x 1 table after the fact, although links
are lost.
The question is:
Is there a safe way to undo the first step of the table/outline
without losing all the objects?
Or do all objects have to be grouped, saved, and then delete table
(with contents) and paste back grouped objects?
Or does he have to start over?
Thanks for any insight or suggestions.
Cheers,
tomZ
