2 byte unsigned integers

I am trying to connect to an ODBC database that has 2 byte unsigned integer
fields. If a 2 byte unsigned integer contains a value greater than 32767,
Access gets an error and won't open the table. I can import the data
successfully in excell. How can I configure access to support 2 byte unsigned
integers?
