2 contacts folders when sending email

P

Paul Kraemer

Hi,
I am using Outlook 2002. I have one and only one "Contacts" folder. In the
properties for this folder on the "Outlook Address Book" tab, I have checked
the checkbox to "Show this folder as an email address book". When I create a
new email message and click on either the "To", "Cc", or "Bcc" buttons, it
brings up the "Select Names" dialog box. At the top of this dialog box,
there is a dropdown list that allows me to select where I want to show names
from. For some reason, this dropdown list contains two "Contacts" folders.
One of them includes the people that I've placed in my real contacts folder.
The other one is empty. I was wondering if anyone has an idea why I am
seeing this second "Contacts" folder here, and if there is a way to get rid
of it. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

Remove the Outlook ADdress Book services from your profile, stop and restart
Outlook, and add the service back in.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your response, but can you give me a clue how to remove the
"Outlook Address Book" service from my profile in Outlook 2002. I think I
remember in Outlook 2000, you could just go to Tools | Services and it would
be listed there, but I can't seem to find it in 2002.

Thanks again,
Paul

The equivalent in OL 2002 is Tools>E-mail Accounts>View or change existing
directories or address books>Next. Select the Outlook Address Book service
and click Remove. Stop and restart Outlook. Click Tools>E-mail
Accounts>Add a new directory or address book>Next. Select Additional
Address Books. Click Next. Select Outlook Address Book. Click Next, then
Finish.
