Couple of questions for you gurus... I have a shiny new Samsung Blackjack and
finally pulled all of my contacts off the SIM so they'll sync to OL (WM5 via
AS4.50). I've been syncing all the in-memory contacts to the ecxchange
server rather then locally for the week that I've had it and all looked well.
Since making some changes in OL contacts and pulling the SIM ones, I have
found two problems:
1- Some of my newer OL contacts will not sync to the phone. At all. I've
confirmed others in the same category are there, and everything looks peachy
in the sync logs. I have re-added, edited, searched, and must be missing
something...
2- I now have a whole bunch of semi-duplicate contacts in OL. When I had
saved to my SIM on my old phone, it created a separate entry for each phone
number for a contact. So now in OL, I have my original OL "John Smith" entry
with address, email, phone, etc. I also have "John Smith" with a home phone,
"John Smit1" for work, and "John Smit2" for cell. I tried playing with some
of the scrubbers at http://www.slipstick.com/addins/contacts.htm#dupes. The
only one that looked like it would work will not use phone numbers as its
search basis on the free version, and I haven't opted to plunk down $30 for
it yet to see if it'll do the trick.
Do you know of any good way to select multiple contacts and merge their data
(much like when you're adding a new contact and get prompted that "this
contact already exists, would you like to merge the data?") or a plug-in that
will let you select similar-but-maybe-not-matching contacts to put them
together?
You guys always rock, thanks...
