2 instances of the same doc?

I recently upgraded from Word 97 to Word XP

I used to be able to have the same document open twice,
simultaneously, in two separate instances of Word without a problem.

Under this new version, when I try, it opens a second instance of Word
without a problem, but won't open a second instance of the
document..........it just reverts to the existing open instance of
that document, and opens a new blank document in the new instance of
the application

Is there a way I can change this?
