In outlook xp, there is an opton
file > data file management > add

where you can add a new .pst file. Does this mean data can be stored in 2
.pst files ?

absolutely. You can have as many pst files as your disk storage allows.....

If so can I have outloox express emails in one .pst and that downloaded
using outlook2003 in another .pst?

Don't quite understand the reference to Outlook EXPRESS - OE doesn't use pst
files and is a completely different application, despite the similar
name....

Outlook Express will export messages only to the default folders in Outlook.
However, nothing says you can't perform this export to a new PST that you
set as the delivery location, then switch the delivery back to another PST.

I don't know if you expect Outlook Express to automatically update Outlook's
folders, but that doesn't happen. Are you trying to keep them in sync, or
is this a one-shot effort so you can switch over to Outlook exclusively?

Export mail from OE, Importing in OL will lose the dates - or at least reset
them to the import date

Yes you guessed it right. I am not comfortable with outlook 2003,
havent really used it. There are too many options in it. But I do
intend to move to outlook2003 once know how to navigate in it
properly.
So need to still use OE as default and then import OE emails in
outlook 2003.

So, configure Outlook so that it's working correctly, then export your
messages in Outlook Express with File>Export>Messages to move what's in OE
over to Outlook. If you want to move the OE contacts, use Outlook and click
File>Import and Export>Import Internet Mail and Addresses, and import only
the addresses.
