my first question is i have a recipe web site up but i have tried almost
every search engine i can not seem to find any kitchen utensil clip art to
use in the ingredients sections of the recipes. The web site is:
http://shirleysrecipes.awardspace.biz. I need clip art that is applicable to
the ingredients listed. Does anyone know what i can do? My other question is
does anyone know of any free sub-domain web hosts that give the best bang for
you time, including the capability to publish office 2007 and earlier files
so they can be opened on the web instead of saved to the hard disc then
opened? I need a host that offers 5 sub-domains in one account as well as the
FrontPage Extensions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know any web host with that capability, free or otherwise.
A Word document (any version) is ALWAYS downloaded, then either opened in
the browser (IE only), opened in Word or saved to disc.
Any host that allows Word files (that is every host I know of) to be hosted
will work this way.

As for sub-domains, FP-extensions and Free - I doubt you will find that
combination. For low cost try http://www.webhost4life.com ($7 per month
after 1st year) and there are other, cheaper, hosts .

Try Google for the clipart - http://www.freeclipartnow.com/food/ was one
result.

Output your recipes as .pdf's if you have Acrobat (not the just reader), or
if you don't you can use something like CutePDF, or PrimoPDF to output from
Word to a PDF file, then upload them to your web for downloading by your
viewers...almost everyone has Acrobat Reader.

I agree with Rob pdf's thought I hate them as a user) are best.

but what kind of office files? word excel what? what kind of content? You
might be better putting it as actual content within the web.

Thank you all for the replies! The type of content would be a companion
printable recipe book to go along with the web site. Right now, the print
version is in Publisher 2007. I tried using PDF. That is fine to print or
download for my viewers to print thier own copy of the finished file. I also
want the viewers to be able to open the Publisher 2007 file in their browser
(assuming they have publisher 2007 on their computer) so they don't have to
save it to their hard drive but in Firefox it forces them to save the file,
then download which saves to the hard drive. I had a professor in college
that hosted his labs on his web site and then we could download and open them
in the browser that is what i want to be able to do. Also, i have found three
companies that do offer frontpage extensions and 5 subdomains which is
awardspace, agilityhoster, & 100webspace. I was wondering if any one else
knew of any. As for the clip art i have tried google and all i could find was
kitchen utensils all together when i need separate images small enough to use
as a graphic for the items listed in ingredients. As for the person would
said they liked the Lemon Pound Cake Recipe, feel free to save my site if you
wish i put it up to let people be able to access my grandmother's recipes
with all who care to use them. So enjoy!

Then you will have to provide Publisher 2003, 2007 or 2010 for all your
users, because Publisher is the only program able to open Publisher files.

PDF's are your solution.

And I certainly wouldn't recommend to a newbie that he run his own webserver

So you are excluding European readers from printing your recipes?
A4 is the standard in Europe, being approx 8x11.25
Use a fixed width, centered page for print. The width being approx. 630px,
and change the fonts to a serif style (like Georgia, Times etc.) to make the
printed version easier to read. (serif for print, non-serif fonts for the
screen).
A print CSS sheet is the easiest way to set things up - see

Excluding European Readers from printing the recipes? Well in theory yes but
not intentionally. You see this site is not going into a search engine anyway
or at least yet. So the chances of European Readers just "stumbling" upon it
would be rare and limited. In fact those European Readers you spoke of would
have to have the URL in order to find the site. Bare in mind the site is just
a online form of what will be in print and even the in print copies are going
to be EXTREMELY limited. Therefore the chance of someone outside the family
or on a even larger scope, outside the USA finding the site or let alone
wanting to print the recipes is such a remote chance. So CSS is not really
practical nor am skilled at adding CSS to the site not to mention, then i
would have to remove all the printable pages and to such. The main reason I
have avoided using CSS is im have no knowledge of how to do it and keep all
my inline content in tact. No one as of yet has been able to walk me through
step by step how to implement CSS into any websites I have done.
