my first question, how can one edition of office end up being converted to
another edition of office? I bought my computer with microsoft office 2003
student teacher edition on it and found recently that it was converted to
microsoft office 2003 standard edition due to having had my computer crash
with in the past month or so.

my second question, before my computer crashed I was working under a
relatives product keys where they had the same edition as myself on CD and
allowed me to use the product keys where I only had the trial version and the
office 2003 allowed multiple computers to share the same product keys. Do I
have to ask my relative for the product keys again or is there some way of
retrieving that info online?

And since you are using pirated software you really expect to get an answer
from a Microsoft supported newsgroup. Now why would I think the software is
pirated:

You purchased a computer with Office S/T but you were using a key from a
relative. Office S & T only allowed to use a key for install onto 3
concurrent computers within the same household. Since you don't say you
were within the same household, I would suspect that you used the key
outside of the agreement. Therefore PIRATED.
