2 week schedule rotation

I am looking for a strategy to contend with a retail store with a fixed
schedule and resources (people) with excentric but repeating schedules.
Essentially schedules repeat every two weeks i.e. week one is the same as
week 3; week 2 is the same as week 4; etc. and each person may have different
hour patterns.

While Project is not really designed to schedule things like this I
would think that you could do something like this:

Create a set of tasks for each person's weekly schedule. Use links
between the tasks to put the right amount of time between the shifts.
You might have to use a number of hours of lag to get the start of one
shift to begin at the right time. It all depends on how long the shifts
are. Make sure all the tasks for a specific person are linked together
in a 'chain'.

Repeat this for each person, one task per shift per person.

Then use this set of tasks as the template for a weekly shift schedule.

Then Copy and paste this set of tasks for each week and just set the
start date of the first task to the right date for their set of shifts.

Obviously have the Standard calendar for the project and the resources
set to the store hours with no lunch break. You can then use splits in
the shift tasks to represent lunch hours.

Just a thought.
