2000 Outllook Won't Open

My 2000 Outlook will not open. I have Windows 2000 Professional. It will open
up to the splash screen and stops right there. The outlook shortcuts show up
and no toolbars show up. I have tried just about everything I have read on
this board. I've changed the outcmd.dat to .old, created new mail profile,
scanned personal folders. It will not open in safe mode. I have outlook
express and it works fine.

I apparently can use the mail function because if I click on someone's email
it pops open the send email screen. From there I can attach items and view my
emails.

I have not added any other programs. I was working on Quicken and had a
problem with it but when I restarted Quicken was fixed. I then tried to open
Outlook and it is stuck. I have not been able to check for an add-ins because
I can't access Outlook in safe mode.

I have done virus and spyware scans. Everytihing else seems to function
correctly.

I hope someone can help me as this is driving me nuts!! Thanks

Try starting Outlook with a new profile created via the Mail icon in Control
panel.

Thanks for the reply Bill.

I created a new mail profile per the instructions on the How To-Outlook
page. Only problem is that on Windows 2000 there is no prompt for a profile
to be used button. These screens appear to be for xp. I created a new one,
deleted all of them and created a new one but nothing seems to work. Please
let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Thanks for the reply Brian.

I attempted every option on the How To-Outlook page. Couldn't do #4 or #5 as
my Outlook won't open in safe mode. Please let me know if you have any other
suggestions.

Will Outlook run with the /safe switch added?

type outlook.exe /safe in the Run box.

I tried that and it did not run in safe mode. Please let me know if you have
any other suggestions. I have just about tried everything on this board.

Thanks
Kevin
