2000 & XP files?

Is the file system for Office XP the same as 2000?

If you mean are *all* Officexp app.files the same structure as Office2K
app.files, then no
but is that what you mean?

Not all, ie Outlook2003 pst, in 2003 format, cannot be opened by Outlook2K
In OL2003 you can create a new pst in the earlier format.
Access2003 I believe also
