2002 Projects Not In View Tables

Tim

We are converting Project 2000 projects to Project 2002
and I have an Access application for advanced time pahsed
data repoprting. I am linking to
MSP_VIEW_PROJ_PROJECTS_ENT, but some of the projects we
imported (using the provided utility) are not showing up
in this table. They are showing up in Project 2002 (as
published) and they are showing up in the MSP_PROJECTS
table. The only difference I have found between projects
that show up in the VIEW and those that don't is a field
called PROJ_DATA_SOURCE in MSP_PROJECTS. Those that are
in the VIEW table have a value in this field and the
others do not. Does this relate to how the projects were
imported (I am not personally doing the imports, but am
told that they were all imported the same way...)?? Is
there an option in MS Project that will fix this??

Thanks,
Tim

Hi,

The _VIEW tables are only update when you publish a full project. Importing
a project into Project Server is not publishing. For full details of what
tables hold what data, see SVRDB.HTM in your Project Office10/1033 program
folder

Thanks for the reply. The person who is doing the import
tells me that the utility he is using publishes the
projects as part of the process. He told me this because
I mentioned this requirement of the view tables. Now, I
don't know too much about Project Server, but I can open
the projects in project server and they have a .published
suffix. Also, they are marked as "published" in the
MSP_PROJECTS table. Before I run back and convince them
to try to "re-publish" (I only have read privileges) I
want to make sure that there is a chance that they are not
actually published, despite the "published" word being
associated with them in several places. Thanks again.

Tim.

Published refers to the version. By default there is only one version - the
published version. Try getting them to republish all assignments for one
project and see if it then appears in the _VIEW tables.

Sounds like a plan, thanks for your help.

Hi,

Sounds like Project Server has broken somewhere then, because the only thing
that updates _VIEW tables is publishing a project to Project Server. Looks
like you need a friendly, experienced and skilled network engineer to
troubleshoot and diagnose your servers.

Tim, I wonder if you ever got this resolved. I'm having a similar
problem with a Project 2002 installation. Some published projects do
not appear in the MSP_VIEW_PROJ_PROJECTS_ENT table - other projects do
and we can't figure out what's different between them.
Any help, experience, advice, suggestions would be welcome

Thanks

Graham
