2002 Style Problems

Since being upgraded from Word 2000 on NT to Word 2002 on
XP, I have had several problems with styles:

1. A particular style used across about 50 documents has
become bulletted. The style is still correct in the
documents' template, but will not update the documents
(when I set Automatically Update in Tools, templates and
Add-Ins).

2. Similarly, paragraphs of different styles are randomly
changing from English(Australian) to English(US). Again,
the correct setting cannot be restored from the template.

Can anyone help?
