I'm posting this in case it might help someone in
the future.
I have been using Visio 2002 for some time. Then
for no apparent reason it suddenly stopped working.
As soon as I tried to start Visio, it popped up with a
dialogue box that said... "Visio Has Encountered a
Problem and Needs to Close".
The Application Event Viewer shows....
Faulting application visio.exe, version 10.0.525.4,
faulting module user32.dll, version 5.1.2600.1255,
fault address 0x0000807d.
I searched google and the KB articles but found no solution.
I uninstalled Visio as per KB 305401, and followed
instructions as per KB 324291 but with no luck. And the
Visio /r thing made no difference.
I had installed no new software and not done any
Windows updates since I last used Visio (sitting on SP3
at the moment).
However I have fixed my problem. I am running a Matrox
Parhelia with two monitors, and I found that if I switched
to a single monitor the problem was fixed.
I upgraded the Parhelia driver from 1.07.00.089 to 1.07.01.060
and hey presto - all back working OK. Lets hope it stays that way!
Hope this helps someone...
