2002 upgrade to 2003

Hi

A little while ago, I posted a question on here but nobody replied to it. I
can't beleive there is nobody out there amongs you knowledgeable lot that
doesn't know the answer so here goes again.

I am currently using office 2002 pro and are just about to upgrade to 2003
pro (I don't like 2007, can't get on with it so will wait for next version to
come out)

My questions are:
1) Do I have to uninstall 2002 before installing 2003 or will it install
over the top?
2) I don't want to loose my tool bar settings etc so how do I go about
saving them and will they be comatable with 2003?
3) I also don't want to loose all the setting I have in OUTLOOK ( ie my
calender dates entries etc) so how do I go about this?
4) Likewise, the emails that I have still got on the system in the OUTLOOK
"deleted file", how do I transfer them over to 2003

Lastly, I installed a trial copy of 2007 to try. What is the best and
safest way of getting rid of this without damaging the 2002 pro that I have
on my computer and will all the .xls files that I have created in 2007 be
compatable with 2003

I do hope someone can answer all the above and look forward to your help.

Since the next version will almost definitely have the ribbon (I'm not a MS
employee so I can't be 100% certain), why delay the inevitable?

You can only achieve all of the following that you posted by installing an UPGRADE version of 2003. If the Office 2003 is a retail version then you need to save all your data,pst etc files and remove version 2002 and install version 2003.

With the Upgrade you will keep all the latter. But still a good idea to back up everything

I'm sorry you took my response in a negative fashion. It was not meant to be
so. Upgrading to a version that has been upgrading doesn't really make sense
financially (assuming you can still find it). Plus you will be hurting
yourself down the road by not learning how to use the ribbon now. Unless you
plan on retiring in the next two years or so, it could be a skill that pays
off when the next version is realeased.

Yes, but you need to make sure that Outlook 03 uses its .pst file, not 02's.

Not sure about that. If you mean, say, an Excel doc. that is set up to
work in a certain way, yes, it will save them.

They will all be in your .pst file. Once you've installed 03, make sure
that Outlook is using the new .pst file and merely use File/Open to open
your old .pst file and copy what you want from it to the new one.
Personally, I would save the old .pst file, uninstall Office 2002,
reboot, do a clean up and install 03.

Just uninstall 07 BEFORE installing 03 and before uninstalling 02 if you
choose to do that. Once you have 03 installed and try to open an .xls or
..docx file, Office 03 will offer an update to be able to read those
files. Accept it.

Many people still use Office 97 and Windows Me and it gets the job done
for them. Only those with lots of money can afford to buy the latest
Office package so they won't be "hurt down the road". In Spain where I
live, Retail Office Ultimate costs over 1000 US Dollars. The fancy dancy
new ribbon and keeping up with the Joneses is not enough for me to
switch from 03 as it gets the job done quite nicely thank you very much.

I have 2002 and 2000. I also have 2003 but a friend bought it for me at
a computer show in the States and the only reason I got it is for the
..PST being able to get bigger without problems than 00 or 02. If I had
no recourse but to buy Office in Spain, I would use Thunderbird for
email and Open Office for the rest. I'm not going to pay over $1000 US
Dollars for Office 07, especially when 03 meets my needs nicely.
