2003-2007 Issues

I have 2007 on this machine but must work in Compatibility mode because of
corporate document standards. Documents continually lockup during format
changes when running in this mode. MS Support has nothing that I can find to
help.

Anybody found a solution to this?

When creating a new doc or you actually saving in 2003 format?
I have no issues when doing so - excel & word
