2003 and Junk Filter Update

E

Epona

Ever since installing this update (I believe - it may have been happening
prior to this, but I am not aware of it) the JMF appears to be dead. I have
it set to high (i.e. one level below 'safe senders only') but, when I came
back from lunch, there were no less than 20 Viagra ads in my inbox (rather
than them being sent straight to junk). Is this a known problem with this
update? Office 2003 Pro under XP Pro, main admin account (only account).

Is there a method of removing the update as I don't have it listed in
Add/Remove? I'm becoming heartily sick of having to highlight each one and
add it to blocked senders.

Thanks folks

Are you using Outlook stand alone with a pst-file configured or is your
mailbox stored on an Exchange server?

Whoops - home system standalone.

Not being able to add multiple emails to Blocked Senders is really annoying.
I have tried to find *something* on this, but so far no luck. Does anyone
have an idea why this feature is broken and when it (amongst other oddly
removed features) will be fixed?

We're seeing reports of it being less useful. I think the only thing the
update does is replace the outlflt.dat with a newer one - you can get the
old one from the cd or the mso cache file if you saved the installation
cache. Search for out*.dat in case I don't have the file name spelled
correctly.

let us know if replacing it in this manner doesn't work.

Haven't tried it yet, but wanted to thank you first. The odd thing though
this morning I had 10 penile enlargements all in the right place (if you
catch my drift ;o)) But I don't know if they were from address I'd already
blocked as I'd set up a rule to have junk automatically deleted (risky, I
know, but I've not lost a legitimate mail yet).

Well I've replaced it, but could you refresh my memory - is XP's search
supposed to look inside CABs (and yes I have it set to search in hidden
file/folders) - because mine doesn't and I had to go through every single
one by hand to find the damned file!

I'll post this in the appropriate place, of course (Kelly Theriot's bound to
know!) but I just thought I'd ask if you knew of a fix.

Thanks

I believe it is - unless I have something installed that adds the
functionality.

Do you remember which cab it was in?
