[2003] Deleting Assignments/Tasks

I read the steps you need to perform to remove a task from someones timesheet:
1) Reduce the work to zero
2) Publish
3) Delete the resource from the task
4) Publish

In Project Professional 2003, I reduced the work. Went to
Collaborate->Publish->Republish Assignments..., I seleceted the task I had
changed and it published fine. I checked the timesheet and the work was
reduced to zero.

I went back into Project Professional 2003 and deleted the assignment. I
then went to Collaborate->Publish->Republish Assignments... and it won't
allow me to republish just the one task that I changed.

It gives me an error dialog that starts out "There are no items to be
published".

Any ideas? How do I delete a resource from a task and have the task drop
forever off of their timesheet?

Yes, we run that as well. I was hoping to find the magic combination of steps
that would prevent me from having to run the SQL.

You are not publishing correctly. Click Collaborate - Publish - All
Information in steps #2 and #4. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Dale. We ran the query this time, but I'll switch my process for the
next go round.
