2003 Design Templates Not Displaying Correctly in PowerPoint 2007

Perhaps someone can help me...

I have numerous files from 2003 that I now want to update in 2007, but I
have discovered that certain standard templates used in 2003 are no longer
displaying correctly in 2007.

For example, the Axis template in 2003 seems fine in 2007, except that the
*bullets* are not shown! I know they are there... I can switch bulleting on
and off, and I can even save the file as a pptx, re-open it in Office 2003
(using the converter) and it displays fine in 2003. For whatever reason,
however, it won't show them in 2007... not via editing, print preview, slide
show, master slide, printing, etc.!

This is very frustrating, and I don't want to have to apply new templates
(designs) to all of these PowerPoints. Please help!

This probably won't help but I just made a pres with axis in 2003 and it
shows with the correct bullets in 2007

Hi John;

I too even tried it from scratch - creating a new PP in PP2003 and then
opening it in PP2007 - but the same problem persists (I tried the Axis
template again, as well as the Blends template.).

Let me add this: not all of the old 2003 templates have this problem, and
those that do have the problem even if I open the template from the 2003
folder and apply them into a new 2007 file as well. There seems to be a
problem with converting certain types of bullets and displaying them
correctly, but I just installed this yesterday, so it isn't as if I've been
tweaking with the Office 2007 settings over time.

I'm still open to any suggestions (short of reinstalling the software).

Thanks!

I think you will find this is a video card driver issue. I strongly suggest
going to the manufactures web site and see if there is a newer driver for
your system.

Hi Austin;

I appreciate the suggestion. I'm running an ATI X700, so I upgraded from
the 6.6 to the 7.7 drivers.

The upgrade went fine, but sadly that did not resolve the problem. I'm
still open to other suggestions, however.

Hi Austin;

I'm running XP with SP2.

Well then I am at a loss as it seems to work on my machine. Maybe someone
else can jump in with an answer.

Make sure you have a Windows-certified printer driver installed (as a local
printer driver, not a network driver) and set as the default printer. Here
are instructions: http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00605.htm

This fixes a number of odd display issues in PPT 2007.

I have seen the same exact problem with some 2003 presentations at my
company. I even opened a ticket with Microsoft and they were able to
reproduce the problem with the particular file. Basically I spent 50 bucks
to be told its a bug and might be fixed in a patch.
