2003 Overwiring Task Data

M

mike

Hello, jut want to run this by the forum. A team member reports
actuals on My Tasks and submits to PM. By default, this PM would
approve all. The PM also has a tendency to open up a project plan
look at the percent complete and enter a different number, save and
Republishes ALL.

In doing so, what the PM did was just overwrite the actuals submitted
by the team member, correct? The PM usually would not go to Republish
Task assignments and choose to overwrite actuals, rather just
Republish ALL Information. (would this have the same over-writing
effect?)

The team members timesheet now has a consistent data value for actual
work, like 2 hours every day, and the resource is certain he did not
enter this way.

Mike:

If a PM changes the percent complete on a task, it changes the actual work.
If the PM did not republish the task, the user's My Task page and the
Project Plan will be out of sync. This is not a good practice and you should
train your PMs not to do this if you trust the team member's reporting.
