2003 Publisher scanning problem.

I have a small office network with three XP professional
PC's running on it. They are all running 2003 Office pro.
One of the PC's has a HP Office Jet 7130 multifunction
printer directly attached to its USB port. The other PC's
in the offcie share this device.

My problem is that the PC directly attached to the HP
printer will print, fax and scan documents without
problem in Publisher. The two networked PC's will print
to the HP without problem in Publisher, but when I try to
use the INSERT_PICTURE_FROM SCANNER or CAMERA function in
publisher and acquire a docuemnt by scanning. Publisher
only shows the default "jasc paint shop photo album
support" as the only device avalible. If I'm just
printing from the networked PC's from Publisher the HP is
avalible as a device and works fine as i mentioned above.

All patches are up to date, all drivers are current and
have been reinstalled just for good measure.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I'm out of
ideas.

Thanks for any assistance.

DO NOT scan direct from Publisher. Publisher does NOT like this. Use your hp
image scanning software first, save the file/pic then do an Insert > Picture
from File and browse to the photo to insert.

Brian it is not only Publisher that does not like it, it is in reality all
programs that don't like it.
There is always a glitch of some type or another scanning directly into
programs.

Thanks for the suggestion. It just seems odd that the
scanning function works perfectly on the PC directly
attahced to the printer and the networked PC's can't see
the hp device from the INSERT Function.

I can always scan from the direct connected Pc and pull
the file acrossed the network to the others but it just
pisses me off that the function doesn't work across the
network.

If anyone else has seen or had this problem please let me
know.

Thanks Again RT

Doesn't seem odd at all to me.
Printing across a LAN to a printer attached to another computer has always
been available, using printer sharing.
I've never heard of scanner sharing. The scanning software in Publisher is
designed to work with devices attached to the computer in use.
