2003 Tab Problem

T

Ted Horman

I inquired about this several days ago but no one responded so I will try
again. Thanks for your patience!

The short of it: I have developed an application in 2K for Mental Health
Workers and it is quite special. So far only 4 purchases but raves about
it. My most recent purchaser specifically purchased an HP Pavilion ze5500
just for it! The OS is XP Pro, and she purchased Office 2003 Pro (I have
completed all of the OS/Office updates as well as video driver etc). I
thought Great I get to work Office 2003! However, after doing a few things
to adjust for some minor program differences I have encountered an anomaly
that stumps me. The app loads an 18 tab control (button version) and each
tab has a form (or two and most with subforms). Works great in Access 2K
and XP. In Access 2003 the words on several of the tabs (the label area)
disappear if I maneuver several times from tab to tab, but in particular if
I activate a report then return to the form, almost a whole row of the words
on the tabs are gone. They reappear if I mouse over them. I have tried
loading the tab form without any other forms thinking it might be a memory
problem (448meg installed, no way) and it still does it. I even created a
new db (in 2003) from scratch and only placed the form w/ tabs and I still
get some of the problem. AND it seems to do it some while in design mode!
This app works slick in 2K and XP and I even converted it to 2003 just in
case it might be a backward compatibility thing but nothing makes it go
away. When I switch the OS to "Windows Classic" vs XP Themes, the problem
goes away.

Allen Browne has a site (http://members.iinet.net.au/~allenbrowne/tips.html)
that suggested that unattached labels on the tab control would cause this
however I adjusted the 4 I had and still have the problem. I do have one
tab with just command buttons for various reports that is NOT in a form,
just on the tab page. I can send an image with two screen shots so you
can view a sample of what I mean. (small only 160kb) The first one is just
mousing from tab to tab and the second one is the form view after returning
from a report. Send my your email and I'll send the shots.

Has anyone encountered this? I'm at loss as to what to do.

I hope someone has an opportunity to check this out.

Thanks at any rate,

Ted
