2003 - to hyperlink or not to hyperlink is the question...

We just rolled out Office 2003. We have some *.OFT files
made in '97 that users click on to fill out.

For some the hyperlinks embedded in the OFT's aren't
active - they are just like text. I have found that a
change in Tools | Options fixes it, but then they lose MS
Word as their Editor.

For instance - Tools | Options | Mail Format

Under Message Format:
Compose in this message format: Doesn't matter which is
chosen

with the 2 check boxes ~ if the top one is checked ["Use
Microsoft Office Word 2000 to edit e-mail messages"] the
hyperlinks aren't "activated" for use. They look just
like text in the OFT's

So, in order to have hyperlinks appear in email messages
and OFT's, one cannot have MS Word as the editor?

I'm having the same issue also. I didn't realize that the
settings you mentioned would allow me to have active
links - thanks.

But I still want to use Word as my editor. I wonder if
we'll have to keep switching the settings when we get
emails with links? I guess we could always copy and paste
in to IE, but that didn't work on the OFT's I have. Hope
someone gets an answer soon!

These are message forms? Hyperlinks won't be active and clickable in the
compose layout message control, but should be in the received message. If
they're not, provide more detail, like the message format (RTF, plain text,
HTML).

When I open the forms - there is a hyperlink if I remove
the check mark by Tools | Options | Mail Format
"Use Microsoft Office Word 2000 to edit e-mail messages"

If I remove the check mark I see hyperlinks, if the MS
Word checkmark is on - no hyperlinks.

I have changed the drop down from HTML, Rich Text, etc -
that doesn't matter. It's only when I removed the
checkmark from the MS Word as editor, that the hyperlinks
works.

You have to use Ctrl+click in Word or WordMail to follow hyperlinks.
