I have been running XP with Office XP Professional with Publisher 2002 since
July 2004. I have my computer set to get Windows updates automatically.
Earlier this week, I restarted my system in response to one of these
automatic updates. After the restart was done, I tried to open a Word
document that I had created in the last 6 months. When I did this, an
activation wizard opened and told me Office 2003 trial edition was activated
and that I should register. I did not. I have been able to work on my Word
documents the rest of the week.
Today, I tried to open an Excel file that I created a couple of months ago.
The activation wizard appeared again and said I could convert and that my
trial version expires in August.
I have a valid Office 2002 version installed. Why is the system trying to
force the 2003 trial version on me after all this time and how do I get it to
stop? Will I use all access to my 2002 version in August? Can I go out to
Add/Remove programs and delete the 2003 trial version or will that mess up my
2002 full version? Help!!!
