Hi,
I'm using Office Pro 2002 I'm trying to open up a spread sheet that was
created in Excel 2007, obviously that didn't work I just ran the 2007
backward compatibility
program and I still can't open Excel spreadsheet that was created in 2007
using the 2002 Excel.

Did you select the correct file type from the drop down?

Thanks Tom,
I'm not to sure what you're referring to I just ran the compatibility patch
again and I wasn't prompted for anything.

Open your document: File | Open, and you'll see the Files of Type where you
select the file type for the document.

When you run the compatibility patch, it simply installs it.

O, no I've seen that, the problem is I have a user with about 50
spreadsheets in 2007, and all the other users with Office 2002, I've ran the
compatibility on 2 of them and they still can't open up the spreadsheet
created in 2007. So does the user
have to go to everything they created in 2007 and save it in a different
format?

Hi stjoe,

There are two separate paths you can try. From Excel 2007 use
Office Button=>Save as=>Excel 97-2003
the other is to add the Office Compatibility pack to Office 2000, XP/2002 or 2003 and open the files from those apps.

The success of the latter can be a bit more 'iffy' depending on which 2007 only features the creator of the workbook may have used,
among other factors.

Do you get an error message when you open 2007 documents/workbooks in the older version?

Are there any add-ins running in the older versions that might be interfering?

Hi Craig,

In Word 2002 and Excel 2002 see if you're able to create a new test file and apply Calibria and Cambria fonts to some of the
content, then save it in Word/Excel 2007 format. If that works, then restart the apps and reopen each of the files to see if the
content is still usable.

If not, uninstall the compatibility pack, restart the PC, then download and install it again.
