2007 crashes & can't edit docs

After 2 good months, I'm having problems with Word 2007:

a) cannot open existing docs by double clicking or right clicking title
b) existing docs opened by opening Word, then choosing from Recent are not
editable. Cursor remains at the start of the doc. I can type in that
position and backspace, but cannot move cursor to another area of the doc.
c) when i close Word it crashes. Diagnostics do not show anything wrong.

Has anyone encountered these issues? Any ideas on how to fix?

Is this a trial version of Office 2007 that has time expired? Was it
activated?

It's an enterprise (multi-license) version and I seem to be the only one with
the problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice.

I've discovered that i can use keyboard commands to move about, delete, etc.
in my Word docs. It's the mouse (either built-in on my laptop or USB) that
won't work within the document. However, the mouse works fine for the tool
ribbons. Any thoughts???

I've seen similar symptoms to this on here before. Never really got to the
bottom of it though. I suggest try logging in as a different user -
preferably as ADMIN - and test again because I can only think it is a
corrupt profile.

PROBLEM SOLVED!! There was a temporary copy (one with a ~) of my normal.dot
file that appears to have caused the problem. None the less, I did as Terry
suggested -- logged in as the administrator and built a new profile.

Hi there - yes, you named my problems EXACTLY. New vista machine w. word 97 - was working fine for about 1 or 2 months. Just did a windows update and 1) cannot launch on icon, 2) cannot edit, 3) crash on close. Have not seen any other similar posts out there. Nothing on windows support. Office diagnostics does not turn up anything. I'm afraid I'm not much of a help. Can you let me know if you find anything? I'm at (e-mail address removed). (-paul)
