2007 Office communicator

A customer of mine is a heavy user of MS Office Communicator. I have Vista
with Office 2007 but not communicator. Can I load this on my computer as a
single user and then add all my contacts email addresses into my account and
use Communicator with them? Also, can I have different log ins? My customer
has provided me with a local email address but I would like to set this up
for any other customers I have. Can I do this?
I'm guessing this is similar to an IM program but wanted to check before
buying.
