Hello Group:
I bought a new laptop (Sony) for my son. It came with a trial version
of MS Office 2007. I didn't want 2007, so I uninstalled it with
add/remove programs and installed a newly purchased version of MS
Office Small Business 2003.
But now, when I open Outlook (2003), I get a message from the Business
Contact Manager for Outlook 2007, presumably the installer, telling me
that the feature I am trying to use is on a network source that is
unavailable.
On line search provides detailed steps from MS for getting rid of the
installer for the 2007 Beta, which I have read will also get rid of
any trial version of MS Office 2007. Here is the site:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218
This is extremely detailed (7 printed pages!) and I followed it almost
to letter. The first step, to remove the installer, fails
(msiexec.exe). I deleted any registry keys for Office 12 and went
through all of the other steps. There were some steps which I omitted
because I thought they might interfere with the 2003 program.
But the error box still pops up. Maddening!
I have read that the cleanup utility should not be used for Office.
I would really appreciate any suggestions.
