2007 Presentation on 2003/XP system

I have a presentation put together under Vista and PP 2007. If I show it on
a computer with XP/2003 the transparency of the picture background disappears
and the full color picture appears, making text almost invisible. From other
threads it seems that 2003 cannot show transparent background pictures.
However, if I use the convert utility ifrom 2007 and the viewer file this is
still the case. Why is that? It says it is a 2007 viewer but it sure does
not work like one!?

Please give us some specifics. You started talking about a "convert utility
from 2007" and "the viewer file" partway through, and this muddies the
water.

First, in PPT 2007, did you save the file as 97-2003 format, or did you just
save it as 2007 format?

On the other computer, are you showing the file on PPT 2003, or on the PPT
2007 Viewer?

Did you download and install the latest PPT 2007 Viewer from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...40-14E1-467D-8DCA-19D2A8FD7485&displaylang=en ?
Or did you just install the compatibility pack from here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...70-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en
to make PPT 2003 and the PPT 2003 Viewer open 2007-format files?

I don't mean to be abrasive about this -- sorry if it's coming off that way.
It's just that the whole viewer / compatibility pack thing is really a mess,
and so it's really frustrating trying to help people figure out where
exactly their specific problem lies.

Thank you, Echo S. You are not being abrasive and, in fact, you may have
solved my problem just be asking me those questions. I have downloaded the
latest 2007 viwer and I will retry the whole thing. If I am still having
difficulties I will come back if I may.

Please do. I hope the 2007 Viewer resolves it, though!
