2007 references in document

I am using internal references in a document in Word 2007. I note that I can
reference the ¶ numbers correctly, but when I try to reference a letter, then
it is hard to tell what I will get. for example, 1.1 works but 1.1(a)
doesn't. So what I am doing is first reference the number and insert it, and
then immediatly after the number, insert the letter by the reference command.

Does it work that way? The commands on the ribbon are Reference/Cross
reference for inserting both the number, and then again for the letter

The Insert Cross Reference to: dropdown has a number of
settings--paragraph number with context, with full context, etc. You
might experiment with different settings.

Thank you. Yes, I did experiment with those settings. the Full context
gives you the entire paragraph as an insert, and the without is the troubled
one. The above and below I don't use.

My versions also has a setting for “paragraph number†no mention of
context. Did you try that one? If that doesn’t help, I have no idea,
perhaps someone else knows.
