2007 Small Business Edition - Vista - No option to install Outlook

Hi Terry,

Unless he's choosing the 'upgrade' option that will replace an older version of Outlook the new version won't be able to install
Outlook 2007 as you can't have two versions of Outlook installed.

Backup files, uninstall the older versions of Office, restart the PC then install Office 2007 (if it's an upgrade version of Office
have the CD available from an older version to use during setup of the new version as an upgrade qualifier - doesn't have to be
installed).

============
I am supporting a new user via telephone - but I think the problem is clear.

The problem:-
Bought new Laptop with Vista Premium installed.
Installed Office 2003 Small Business Edition but experienced problems.
Bought Office 2007 Small Business Edition OEM (Licence and Media).
When installing - Outlook is not offered as an Install option - He descibes
it as having a X (Red I think) next to the install option.

Now I have a feeling that prior to all this he had tried to install Office
XP - I cannot be sure? I am also unsure whether - installed by the
manufacturer- he had a trial of Office 2007 Pro installed which he has
uninstalled. Sorry about this but he is not computer literate and it's hard
to get a straight answer.

I searched the MS site (and Googled) but cannot find anyone with a similar
problem.

He has not uninstalled Outlook 2003 (but he never uninstalled any other 2003
programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and they upgraded without any problems.

Thank you (in anticipation), Terry Danmat>>
